Professional, independent facilitation

Whether you are bringing together a new collaboration or team, or agreeing the organisational design elements for a future restructure, sometimes independent professional facilitation helps.

We are there for you in those critical moments when all voices need to be heard and you need alignment and action. Our experienced senior facilitators help create safe spaces that allow difficult topics to be fully addressed.

As a part of this we can plan and facilitate specific meetings, such as project collaboration, transition planning, stakeholder negotiations and supplier networks.

I learned how much ground could be covered in one and a half days!

Questions to ask

What should I look for from a professional facilitator?

Influence: A great facilitator has to understand and manage the influence they personally have in the room. We all come with pre-conceived ideas, biases and judgements as we are human after all, but to create a safe space to make the most of a group, a facilitator needs to know how to put these to one side.

Energy: Facilitation needs to play with the energy in the room. Knowing when to care enough to bite your tongue and let the conversation continue, and when to introduce a different activity or intervention is something that comes with reflection and experience.

Toolkit: A facilitator’s toolkit isn’t just pens, post-its and flipcharts (although of course these help), but theories, methods, techniques and phrases that help set the group up for success.

I love your facilitation style. – Morgan Sindall

Some Questions to consider:

Here are a selection of questions you might like to consider in advance of the session:

  • What would be the very best outcome I could hope for from this session, and the minimum?
  • What are the business objectives for this session?
  • What is the situation today and what longer term changes are we aiming for?
  • Which people do we need in the room and what do we need them to know in advance?
  • What do I expect from the facilitator and what do I value most in having them here?

You always push us until we are absolutely certain of our thinking and position. – BECBC
