What a week we had!
It was a whirlwind week for us at the end of May. We are now an award winning business and I am a best selling author! Ouch.
Firstly my new book, Soft Skills for Tough Jobs was published on the Tuesday, and then the Harrison Network won Microbusiness of the Year at BECBC Business Awards on Thursday evening.
It was a bit crazy that so much happened all in one week and it’s taken me a week to recover and put this online, but it was amazing and really showed what a great team can achieve. We had the book launch on Tuesday evening and then the BECBC Business Awards ceremony on Thursday. In amongst all of this, we’ve been delivering workshops and coaching sessions from the top to the bottom of the country, with leaders at Sellafield, Imperial College in London and Dounreay during the week too!
Soft Skills for Tough Jobs took three years of writing, editing and development, and was the bestseller in the Business and Management category for online book sales on Amazon by the close of the day.
It is my first book, and brings together my approach to building teams through conversations. Every conversation counts when you are a leader, teams that work need to be built over time; there is no magic wand. My approach is about doing more of what you do well, being your best more often and investing in your working relationships to make things better.
Then winning this award was great to recognise this amazing team we are building here at the Harrison Network. Usually our work is behind the scenes to help other organisations perform brilliantly. It feels good to be acknowledged for what we do too.
Thank you for all your support to help us achieve this! Best, Lucy
